Technology
integration to deliver first third party application on Newbury’s WLAN Location Appliance
BOSTON--(BUSINESS
WIRE)--Newbury Networks Inc., the Location Systems Company™, today announced that it is collaborating with
PanGo Networks, Inc. to deliver the first third-party location application on its Newbury Location Appliance™.
The PanOS® Location Management Platform and PanGo Locator® application can now be powered
by Newbury’s Location Appliance, enabling users of asset tracking solutions to take advantage of breakthrough
levels of accuracy and precision for locating any 802.11-based device across a wide range of WLAN infrastructures including
3Com, Aruba, Cisco, Nortel, Symbol and Trapeze.
Central to this integration, Newbury is using PanGo’s
open Provider Interface to deliver location information to the PanOS Platform and PanGo Locator running in any of these diverse
wireless network environments. This third party integration support is core to Newbury’s strategy for exposing
its patented Wi-Fi location technology to drive business-critical applications such as PanGo’s as well
as other custom solutions. A new class of mobile enterprise applications fueled by location continues to gain momentum in
vertical markets such as healthcare, financial services, manufacturing, retail and government.
“Today’s
enterprise wireless LAN adoption is wide-ranging and rapidly growing. We believe the factors that fuel wireless adoption center
around a culture of mobility and rich location services,” said Michael Maggio, president and CEO, Newbury
Networks. “This work with PanGo supports our strategy of exposing Newbury’s proven location
technology to enable scalable mobile applications across heterogeneous enterprise wireless LAN infrastructures.”
“The demand for precise and accurate location data continues to increase across our
customer base and the market as a whole” said Mike McGuinness, president and CEO, PanGo. “Newbury’s
commitment to supporting location-enabled applications meets a broad set of needs in the wireless LAN market and makes the
Newbury Location Appliance a natural fit with our open platform approach.”
“Location-aware
applications are one of the few types of applications that truly leverage the mobile nature of wireless LANs," said Abner
Germanow, Director of Enterprise Networking, IDC. “The Newbury PanGo relationship provides the catalyst
for what may ultimately drive adoption of additional business-critical location applications in the wireless enterprise.”
