Boulder, CO (FV Newswire) - BI Incorporated, the nation's
largest provider of offender management monitoring systems and reentry services for community corrections, announced today
it has signed a statewide contract with South Carolina for BI's ExacuTrack AT active offender tracking system. BI ExacuTrack
AT, designed for high-risk individuals such as sex offenders, is the newest and most sophisticated active GPS tracking system
on the market today. This award could include up to 200 ExacuTrack AT systems initially.
ExacuTrack AT enables
agencies to know precisely where criminal offenders released to community supervision are throughout the day and ensures that
if they cross into forbidden areas, this information is relayed to probation or parole agencies. Under terms of this contract,
governmental agencies at the state, county and city level are able to use BI ExacuTrack AT.
"With this award,
South Carolina will be able to incorporate the best available technology for tracking high-risk offenders," said Jock
Waldo, Vice President of Sales, Marketing and Operations. "We are pleased ExacuTrack AT will support corrections agencies
across the state in their efforts to keep South Carolina communities safe."
ExacuTrack AT is intended for
high-risk offenders on probation, parole, and pretrial release. It enables agencies charged with supervising these individuals
to precisely track an offender's movements in the community using GPS. BI now offers more than a dozen technologies for
monitoring criminal offenders in the community.
ExacuTrack AT includes: • A transmitter attached to
the offender's ankle • A lightweight, portable GPS tracking unit that the offender wears on a belt or purse,
or carries when leaving home • A base station installed in the offender's residence • A secure web
interface that stores all offender data and schedules, enabling officers to view detailed reports and maps for where an offender
has traveled in the community.
BI is one of three vendors selected for its active GPS technology in South Carolina.
This award is in effect until 2011.
