Google To Acquire Location-Based Map Company Panoramio

acquired Panoramio, a Spanish-based photo-sharing Web site that creates location-based photos using Google's mapping services.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Panoramio, founded in October 2005, allows Internet users to upload photos
that are then overlayed with location information from Google Maps or Google Earth.
Panoramio and Google have
worked together since the start of the year, when Panoramio became the default layer of Google Earth.
Although
few details were released, Panoramio and Google said the "'geo-location" technology used will be integrated
into Google's mapping services.
Panoramio told users they can remove photos and personal data before it is
given to Google. Source:
